In this television show, Ted, the hopeless romantic, tells a story to his children 20 years from now about how he met their mother.Although this is the plot, it is pretty felxible with the story line. Each episode is mainly just day-to-day plots that happened in each other lives with the overall theme towards Teds story of how he met his wife. The show is based on 5 caucasian people living in one of the most expensive cities in the world.
To me, I believe their lives is the typical American Dream of going to college, getting a job and hanging out with their white friends in a bar. I believe this show is aimed towards men and women, making equality for shows everyone can like. If not, describe what elements would prevent the portrayal of a female or ethnic minority characters from being stereotypical. Softball Stereotype How I Met Your Mother Driver Who SeemsThe first is their cab driver who seems to also pick them up when asking for a cab around the city. He is an indian man who is a cab driver and also a personal driver for limo company. Softball Stereotype How I Met Your Mother Drivers Are IndianNot only is he indians and pushing the racial stereotype that all cab drivers are indian, but his name is also Ranjit, which qualifies him as middle eastern. When he was young, he was a stoner with plenty of insights with philosophy and classical music. In this story, he tells how he met his wife to his children. In fact, this is an example of gender diversity throughout the show. His disgust for women and his womanizing behavior, makes him blind from the race of women. Him and Ted became best friends and moved to the city with his long term girlfriend, Lily. However, she is pretty tough at heart with crazy ambition to follow her heart and what she loves. While shes in New York City, she meets Ted and he falls madly in love with her and becomes best friends with the group. She is the epitome of the ethnic stereotyping that comes into play throughout the show. Because she grew up in Canada, she constantly mocked by her friends and how she grew up with dad hunting, playing hockey and refused to grow up like any other girly girl.
